So, some of you know that I really, really wanted to get deployed to Lagos for my NYSC. My reasons were very genuine and viable, plus I registered really early (which I heard is supposed to be a bonus for a favorable posting). When the call-up letter however came out, guess where I got?
This morning, I left my house with a very heavy heart. For good reasons, I won’t give you guys the full details of what happened but it involved someone very, very, close to me and a realization that things might not just be as fine as I’ve assumed they are. It felt like I had been living an illusion all along, simply because I wasn’t the one putting food on my table and all of a sudden, someone flashed reality before me and it wasn’t pretty. So, through the ride to work, I was very sad. I wanted to smile, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t cry either. On the outside, I was just numb but inside, in my mind, a lot of things were going on.
